The company's board approved entering into a binding term sheet for the acquisition of Lakeview Mercantile Company Private Limited, which owns over 15 acres of beachfront land in Bambolim, North Goa. This land comes with the potential to develop a 170-room luxury resort.
The setting promises the unhurried rhythm that has made Bambolim's stretch of coast a long-standing hospitality address, framed by the Arabian Sea on one side and the quiet institutional geography of Tiswadi Taluka on the other. This will be Chalet's second project in the sought after holiday destination, reflecting the group's belief in Goa's long-term potential. The idea is a resort experience built around the coastline itself, rather than one that competes with it.
Design intent for the property will follow the approach Chalet Hotels has applied across its portfolio of high-end hotels and resorts, where each asset is developed and asset-managed in-house rather than handed off entirely to a third party. Chalet Hotels Limited, part of K Raheja Corp, is an owner, developer, asset manager and operator of high-end hotels and luxury resorts in India, comprising 11 operating hotels and resorts with 3,314 keys across globally recognised hospitality brands including JW Marriott, The Westin and Novotel. That same operating discipline is expected to inform the Bambolim resort as it moves from land parcel to built asset.
The timing follows a broader expansion in the company's development pipeline. The company has approximately 1,250 rooms under development, and is augmenting its commercial real estate portfolio from the current 2.4 million square feet to 3.3 million square feet.
